Volvo Trucks bolsters order book
DFDS increases its fleet of Volvo trucks to 225

Swedish commercial vehicle maker Volvo Trucks will supply 100 class 8 electric trucks to Danish shipping and logistics company DFDS.

DFDS has previously ordered 125 electric trucks from Volvo Trucks, and the two companies are also working together on an autonomous terminal trucking solution.

The new electric trucks will be deployed in nine markets across Europe, including the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium and Sweden.

The OEM has recently expanded its electric range with two new models – the FH Aero Electric and the FM Low Entry. The trucks supplied to DFDS will be updated and more energy-efficient models of the FH Electric and FM Low Entry.

"With this latest order, DFDS has almost doubled its Volvo electric truck fleet to 225 trucks in total – the largest company fleet of heavy electric trucks in Europe," a Volvo Trucks statement says.

95 Volvo electric trucks are currently operational in Sweden, Denmark, Lithuania, Belgium and the Netherlands, with the remaining 30 due to be delivered during 2024, Volvo Trucks says.
