Why expensive power could soon accelerate, rather than retard, the US EV adoption divide
Thus far US BEV adoption has largely been strongest in areas that have higher residential power prices. What if that became a feature, not a bug?
But the German OEM remains resistant to abandoning price discipline
Mercedes-Benz does not expect any easier a second half of the year in the ultra-competitive Chinese market. But it feels that a less hot high-end segment will offer it enough relief not to get involved in any price war as it waits for its longer-term China EV bets to pay off.
Harold Wilhelm, the firm’s CFO, expects “for H2 a more competitive environment, especially in China, related to BEV ramp up”. Mercedes is hopeful, though, it has some insulation.
