Ford signs IRA-compliant lithium supply deals
Ford has secured about 90pc of the battery metals it requires for its production targets

US OEM Ford has struck new deals to source lithium from projects in the US and around the world as it seeks to bolster its battery supply chain and ramp up production of EVs that are eligible for US subsidies.

The second-largest US automaker has signed agreements with three of the world’s largest lithium suppliers, Albemarle, SQM and Nemaska Lithium, and two US-based producers, Compass Minerals and Energysource Minerals, to supply the crucial battery metal for use in its battery manufacturing plants.
