BP’s EV charging unit, BP Pulse, has announced plans to build an e-truck charging site in Kent, UK.
The unit has acquired the lease to the site outside Ashford which has the capacity to host approximately 20 1MW chargers, 10 400kW chargers and 125 100kW chargers.
The first 1MW chargers are expected to be in place from 2026.
“For fleet operators to consider going electric, they must be confident that the infrastructure is in place to support them,” says Stefan von Dobshuetz, General Manager for BP Pulse Europe. “That is why we are thrilled to have secured the land to a crucial site near Dover as we strive to meet the evolving needs of HGV operators transitioning to EVs.”

The acquisition is part of a plan to create an electric charging corridor between BP’s UK and German networks to encourage HGV operators to switch to electric trucks.
In 2022, BP Pulse announced plans to invest up to £1bn in the UK’s EV charging infrastructure and up to €100mn in Germany’s EV charging infrastructure by 2030.
Last year BP pulse launched a truck charging corridor along a 600km stretch of roads in Germany with 21 charging locations.
“The location of this truck stop aligns with our mission to provide accessible and strategically positioned charging infrastructure for our customers along the major truck corridors in Europe,” says von Dobshuetz.
The unit has a target to have 100,000 rapid and ultra-fast charge points installed worldwide by 2030. It currently has 29,000 charge points globally and hopes to reach 40,000 by 2025.
