Autonomous haulage edging closer

Autonomous driving (AD) has been in the spotlight in recent years, particularly around the safety and efficacy of driver-less mobility in the passenger car space. In Oxfordshire, UK tech start-up Streetdrone is aiming to quieten some of the fears around AD by developing technologies necessary to make autonomous trucking a viable and scalable prospect for the future.

The company’s head of products and partnerships, Ross James, spoke to EV inFocus about the different challenges for automated haulage in comparison to passenger mobility, as well as the impact that AD technology can have in ensuring that trucking becomes a net-zero industry in the coming years.
